SLS free- aqueous cream has slowly become one of my must-have skin care products. It is an emollient with high water content. It is indicated for dry/ eczema prone skin.

The original formulation of aqueous cream BP

The original formulation of aqueous cream BP contains SLS- Sodium lauryl sulfate. SLS is a well known skin irritant which is often found in cosmetic products as a detergent o surfactant.

SLS can irritate the skin and in some individuals it is can cause adverse effects such as burning, itching and stinging within 20 minutes of leaving it on the skin.

SLS-free aqueous cream

SLS- free aqueous cream is a great alternative to the original formulation of aqueous cream. It does not contain the SLS so it is less likely to irritate the skin.

I use SLS- free aqueous daily. Below are some of my favourite ways to use SLS-free aqueous cream. It is advised that you should always wash off aqueous cream and never leave it on, as this could irritate your skin.

Different uses for SLS-free aqueous cream

  1. Soap substitute - Shower cream/ cleanser.
  2. Shop substitute - Handwash - Especially if you work in an environment where you are constantly washing your hands.
  3. Shaving cream.
  4. As a soap substitute as for the genital area instead of products which are likely to irritate your vaginal flora eg.  femfresh - READ MORE HERE
